Aylin Yavas is from Uzunkopru, Edirne, Turkey. She graduated with a BA in Interpreting and Translation Studies in 2005 from Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey. She received English Language Teaching Certificate in 2004 from Hacettepe University. She earned her MEd in Curriculum and Instruction that focused on "The Effects of Mental Maps Training on Consecutive Interpreting Training" in 2011 from Yıldız Technical University (YTU), İstanbul, Turkey. She has been pursuing her PhD in the same program since 2012. Her dissertation is about "investigating multicultural education phenomena in a minority and public high school in Turkey; a multiple case study."
Aylin Yavas has been working as a Lecturer of English at YTU since 2006. She was a member of the YTU Rectorate Coordination Council for Extra-Curricular Activities (November, 2008-February, 2011), a member of the YTU Organizing Committee for the Centennial representing the YTU School of Foreign Languages (June, 2010-February, 2011), the director and a lecturer (teaching courses for TOEFL-IBT and IELTS ) of the project titled "5000 Students in Five Years" organized between the Turkish Ministry of National Education under the Turkish Prime Ministry, and YTU (January-April, 2011). She also worked as the Director of YTU International Relations Office between 2011-March, 2014 and Vice Rector Consultant for International Dual and Joint Degree Programs (March, 2014-July, 2016). Her academic interests are qualitative research, multicultural education, multicultural competence, intercultural education, international education, internationalization of higher education, multiculturalism, cross-cultural adaptation, curriculum development, memory and interpreting studies, English and Turkish as a second language. Aylin Yavas has received a number of international honors, grants and awards. She was awarded Fulbright Scholarship during 2009-2010 and taught Turkish at Cornell University, NY, USA

She represented Turkey in International Air Cadet Exchange Programs in 2002 in the United Kingdom, in the Pristina Summer University in 2005 in Pristina, Kosovo, and attended International Handicamp in 2008 and 2010 in Haraldvangen, Norway. She has presented international papers and delivered speeches in the United States of America, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Norway, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, etc. She lived in the Canaries, Spain. She has been to Poland Germany under Erasmus plus. She speaks Turkish, English, has a basic knowledge of Spanish and German and is a novice learner of Arabic, Albanian and Norwegian.
